Best time for my scan?
Your baby will take on a new and more developed look
at each stage of your pregnancy.
Earlier stages (18 weeks +):
Your baby will be smaller and thinner, however you
will be able to capture a full body image.
Mid stages (24 weeks +):
Your baby has grown and is "fuller" they
are also taking up more space, so you will only be
able to capture half body images at this point.
Later stages (28 weeks +):
Baby has developed fat layers that will show rounder
and plum features. The images will be only sections
of the body now, it is a great time to get those close
Mothers that are pregnant with twins should come
in for 18 weeks to try and get the babies together
in the same frame or before 28 weeks for optimal individual
Fuller figured Mothers should plan to come a little
later in their pregnancy between 28-36 weeks.
To watch the continuing development of your baby
see the 'Packages' for repeat visits bonus.
Tiny Hearts 3D Ultrasound Studio will be happy to
scan your baby anytime from 18 weeks until your due
date. It is possible that after or around week 32,
your baby can be positioned head down preparing to
"engage" into the birth cannel. This will
make it nearly impossible to get any facial images
of the baby. During your regular scheduled appointments
with your Doctor, ask them about your baby's positioning.
TIPS to prepare for your Ultrasound
First thing to remember is that your baby is in charge!
In saying that, there are a few things that you can
do to try and help get the best scan possible. Drinking
a cold and sugary beverage approximately 1/2 hour
before your scheduled scan and or eating a sweet treat
can help get your baby active.
However, every baby is different even at this early
stage and you know your baby best, their routine (after
19 weeks they have already started developing a sleep
schedule), reaction to food and drinks, so you might
have the best receipt to get your baby moving for
However, if your baby decides it is nap time when
you arrive for your visit, we can still capture great
images of your baby fast asleep. Remember, it is important
for both your health and your baby's, to consume the
daily recommended amount of fluids and water. Even
being diligent a few weeks prior to your scheduled
scan, you can help improve the clarity and brilliance
of your images. The more you drink clear liquids,
you will help to raise the levels of fluids in your
system and therefore increasing your fluids around
the baby. The more fluids... the clearer the image.
You do not need a full bladder as you do for your
routine medical scan.
Wear comfortable clothing, as you will have to expose
your tummy for the scan.
Things out of our control:
positioning of the baby, placenta and umbilical cord...
sometimes there are things that we just can't control....
